Words to Live By
“Nothing is ever as good, or as bad, as it seems.”
The band is an emotional roller coaster. Keep the lows - and the highs - in perspective.
“Early is on time. On time is late. Late is unacceptable.”
Know it. Live it.
“Self-discipline is the ability to do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done,
regardless of whether you want to do it or not.”
Don’t avoid problems or tasks that seemingly loom too large for you to handle.
Talk to someone, get some help, and tackle the issue before it looms even larger.
“Ain’t nothin’ ever easy.”
No portion of our band’s performance will become top-notch just because we want it to. You have to work for it,
meaning you practice and rehearse at the level at which you want to perform, at all times.
“Wearing a uniform is wearing a license for others to judge you, judge your friends, judge your band, and judge your school.”
When you wear a band uniform, you are giving the public an excuse to apply your words and actions
to the entire Hancock School District. Keep that in mind.

It is much more difficult to be expressive when you're listening."
